got a old air force 87 b250 slant 6 a904hd 80k miles and prettyclean,
runs great then got a bad front trans seal area leak I found a pinhole in torque conv. hub and put in a reman TC and new seal. lasted a month then started really gushing from same area again and trannys been ran way low on fluid so the trannys probably damaged. I was wondering what years and vehicle models will interchange without to many mods. I found a farmer that has a one still bolted to a supersix alreadt pulled out of a
80s full size car will that work? and is that trans any better the a reg six.
and are the likages, wiring plug, tailshaft lengths, output shafts, flex plates the same.
I also have a rear end thats complete out of a 89 B250 318auto its the 10bolt cover, 5 lugnut type if anybodys interested i am in omaha ne

Any transmission from 1968 and up will fit as long as it is from a slant 6, the V8 904 has another bellhousing (A904-G is for the 6).

Up until 1967 the pilot at the end of the crank is smaller so the flexplate does not center and converter does not fit (also the tranny has a 18 spline input shaft, 1968 changed into 27 splines or 26 for a lockup tranny).

After 1968 there is not much that can go wrong, in 78 (I think) the tranny got a lockup converter, that's about it.

It is possible to use the older 904's on a 1968 and later engine but you need an adapter ring and a matching flexplate.

The Super Six is just a slant 6 with two barrel carb and different manifolds, the tranny has nothing to do with that.
