Okay, this is on my '78 Volare coupe, 225 slant six, equipped with power steering. I just replaced both the power steering belt and the alternator belt last week. The alternator belt didn't look too bad, but the power steering belt looked very worn. If I was driving in the rain, the power steering belt would squeak and slip, making steering more difficult.

Okay, here's the issue: Sometimes right after startup, I hear a belt squeaking. I assume it's the power steering belt, since it did it before. The squeaking goes away fairly soon.

So, is this just a belt getting "broken in"?
Or, is this an excuse for me to buy an adapter from FirmFeel and convert to manual steering?
Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks!!!

Get a bar of soap and rub some of it off on the contact side of the belt....then start it up....repeat a couple times.

I know...it's kind of a home remedy, but it's always worked for me.

My guess is the alternator belt.
Does it also squeak when you turn the headlights on?

It could be the alternator belt. I just readjusted the alt belt when I swapped on a different valve cover. I have not heard a squeak since.
Thanks for the suggestions!!! :D
