I've only been searching for a little bit, but any articles that can further explain options or more information will be much appreciated. My buddy just bought a beautiful '67 Dart GT with a 360 and a four speed. The brakes are stock as far as I can tell. My question is one of the lugs is broken off of the front wheels. Since I have my old drum brakes that are small bolt pattern off of my '75 Duster (11in I believe) will they bolt up to the stock spindles? We don't want to swap in Disc and find all new wheels and honestly there hasn't been a real need for more brake. Thanks for your time, wEs |

Wes take the hub off the car and take it to a machine shop to have the stud removed and replaced. What he said. The hardest part will be removing the brake drum, if it is rusted on.I'd try it with a big brass punch (after liberally spraying with liquid wrench and letting it soak). Then line up the new stud and pull it into place with the lug nuts (backwards with washers so you're flat and don't mess up the flange) I that doesn't work, then take the axle out. The front studs are swedged to the drum and hub. This swedge needs to be cut off before removing the stud, so the drum is not ruined. As also stated, stok factoy studs are left handed on the left side of the car, right handed on the right side of the car.[/quote] |

Your 10" drum and hub won't fit a '72 or older 10" drum car as the bearings are different. |

Ok, so the '67 Dart front brakes CANNOT take the '75 drum brakes on his stock spindles???? Richard~ so you're saying just take it to a shop and have them remove the lug/stud. Think it's a good idea, however, I got these brakes laying around with new bearings, cylinders, and pads so..... if I can get rid of them and he can use them everyone wins. Thanks for all your help |

Not exactly. The bearing changed for the 1973 model year so the hub doesn't fit. To use your '75 drums with the '75 hubs you'd have to swap on the '75 spindles. If the '67 and '75 drums are the same width then the drum itself should fit the older hub, but it is a pain to get the hub and drum apart.
