I have a new holly 2280 (bought it a couple of years ago from S6Dan) that wont idle. Like i said the carb is brand new but has been sitting around for quite a while. I put it on my freshly rebuilt 75 solid lifter motor and she just wont idle. i have it off and apart and cleaned everything out as best i could but still no idle any suggestions would be appreciated thanks Dean |

Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Either in the base gaskets or the intake to head gasket. Leaks can also come from using manifold to carb adaptors. |

thanks for the suggestion but it didnt help i checked everything with an unlit propane torch with someone on the throttle to keep it running and no leaks. the only way i can get it to idle (and very poorly at that) is to block off the top of carb about 90% with my hand its a new carb (not rebuilt) and i am stumped thanks again for the suggestion |
