I have noticed a small oil leak pass side on the ledge between my head a block. at first I thought it was the valve cover I had done that so I snugged the bolts. checked and wiped it away checked a couple weeks and theres a small trail I recently panted the motor so it stands out on the blue. I have no drivability issues with the truck 80 d150 just wondering if anyone has had the same issues it is a small small leak. i would have thought water would leak from a head gasket before oil??? any ideas also truck doesn't use hardly any oil or water so its not loosing fluids. |

The bracket that holds the alternator has one bolt that goes into oil. It is the front bolt that goes into the block. The rear one doesn't, nor does the bolt that holds the bracket to the head. Remove the alternator, pull the bolt, clean it up, and put a bit of RTV sealant on the threads. CJ |

thanks! never thought about that that would be about the right spot and I just recently replaced the alternator and painted the brackets thanks agin I appreciate it |
