Anyone used Rockauto’s part # Z 195flex plate, and are they any good?
Bill

Have you tried the dealer? A few years ago they were still available there for the $20-30 range.

I looked at the later years and it gives the same part number. On a '67 and earlier the register hole will be smaller.

Zilla, I have a ‘68 block, and ‘77 transmission, don’t know the year of the crank. That Z 195 I’m hoping will fit.

Sponge Bob is a Frankin Dart. Maybe I should call him Herman, as in Munster.

Yes I know rock auto is cheaper by more then half but it's not like this is a super expensive part. If you don't mind taking the trans out repeatedly, go for it. Who knows they may be even manufactured by the same oem.

I know the earlier crank register is smaller but isn't the outer diameters ridge that the flexplate centers on the same?

No.

I have a couple early flex plates and flywheels. They will not fit on a late crank.

My brain must be turning to mush, can’t remember if the flexplate to fly wheel bolt pattern is symmetrical or asymmetrical on a slant. I’m thinking asymmetrical.

It was not much more than a year ago I was sitting under the car looking at those bolts. Can someone please clue me in on this little detail?

Bill

The bolt pattern is asymmetric.

Yep, the plate will only line up one way.

A small block plate will also work if you oblong one bolt hole. :P

If you have a 77 transmission you have a 68 or later crank, a 77 transmission will not fit an old crank before 68 (well the converter will not fit the crank and as the number of splines and size of inputs haft on tranny does not match <68 >=68).
