Hi there Im new here. Im Syed from Malaysia :)

This is mom's 1st car, she bought new in 1966 and has been with the family ever since. The car has not been on the road for the last 10 years but is garaged (as you can see shes in pristine condition for an unrestored 1966 car...)

I plan to restore this baby and upgrade a few things to modern day standards (such as disk brakes etc.) and I would be glad if you could point me to the right direction as to where to look for parts etc. (other than Ebay).

Cheers for any help.

Nice looking 66. Wonder what the dash is from; it's definitely not from a 66 US Dart.

It looks like the dash from the Australian 66 Valiant ,the model is called a VC.

I would rather a Dart 270 to my GT. Mine only seats 5, I have 4 kids, the 270 with the front bench would fit my whole family. We would be cozy in there but we would all fit.

Yeah i believe she is indeed a Valiant - if you look closely at the interior picture, the steering wheel center boss says "Valiant".

Cool car. Interesting combination of Aus and US parts on that car.

I know each to their own as far as paint colors are concern, but...

What colour shall i paint her? For now, she will either be Red with cream leather and white top, or white with red leather and red top :)

What do you think? Opinions... opinions...

Cheers

The white top and interior combo would be better for you location.Less heat in the sun.Platinum pearl white exterior would show the body lines nicely.http://kerrycustoms.com/images/PLATINUM_PEARL.jpg

I live in Maine, USA on the 45th parallel, half way to the north pole from the equator. My Dart has black seats, and if that car has been in the sun with the top down for a while I need asbestos underwear to be able sit in that seat.

My LeBaron convertible has tan leather & white top, those seats get real warm, but won’t blister one’s posterior like the black dose…

I would go with white top & seats, cool surfaces will be beneficial to the leather in the long run.

Congratulations. Take good care of it. We will help you through.
I would go tan interior, and white exterior. Is white the base color, with gold painted over it? If that is the case, the white exterior will be the easiest to do since you will not have to paint the door jambs and trunk, engine bay, etc.

Ditto on the black interior being hot, hot, hot on convert.

The car is currently at my hometown about 150 miles up north from where im staying. Will be there over the weekend and will take more detailed pictures and get her started (if i can...)

If I get a detailed picture of the fender codes, would you guys be able to help me get more information on the car?

Cheers

Syed

I can see from your photo that the door jambs are white. I suspect the engine bay and trunk are also. I think a nice white exterior and tan interior would be very attractive, and comfortable as well. You can paint your interior panels any color you wish. They call it dye, but it goes on like paint. I think it has a lot of flex agent in it.
