Post subject:  Correct tool to remove Box & Point contacts

I have tried search, but did not find the tool to remove the contacts from my steering column connector. Does anyone know where to get one?

You need to grind down a small screwdriver, just because it is easy to grasp, to a size small enough to slide into the housing that holds the brass connectors, along its flat side from the mating end, and depress the little barb retaining it. While depressing the barb, gently pull connector out by its attached wire.

Female connector looks sort of like this.

Male connector looks like this.

My ground down screwdriver broke off, so I thought I should get a real tool this time.

Lysle made a hexagonal green tool with various tubes and vanes sticking out that I seem to remember I used for that - basically, a thin wall tube of the right inside & outside diameter worked well. I also got similar tools from Radio Shack. For some oddball application I used a lathe to make one from brass that worked well.

I have also used the small screw drivers made for eye glasses.
