| Post subject: | Odd engine block |
I have an engine block and I cannot figure out how old it is, it has 5 freeze plugs but I cannot find any of the oprdinary casting numbers on it. On the left side below the manifolds it says 030-14 below the front freeze plugs and 2485 below the rear freeze plugs below 2485 it says AAWJ with small letters. On the rear right side below the head it says 109141, could this be a casting number ? I would assume it would require one more digit but I cannot see that there has been one or anything like that. It is a 225 with a forged crank. There are no numbers behind the generator bracket. I found a reference to 030-14 on a search and that was about a marine engine so I guess that is a possibility but in that case, how do I figure out the year ? I cannot find any date on the block. Any ideas ? |

5 freeze plugs makes it a 67 or later engine. Frank |
