The temperature is normal when it works. After 5 minutes, after turn down - up to critical. |

Tod, Are you describing the temperature gage moving into the hot zone shortly after shutting down the engine? This heating is normal for a slant six. The coolant picks up extra heat from the block & head after shutdown. Once you restart the engine, the temperature should drop to normal in a minute or so when the coolant once again is circulating out to the radiator. |

Very well! Once more about temperature. I installed the radiator for ATF. After the trip it is hot to the touch. Should the ATF so bask? Can I install the radiator above the level of transmission? |

Tod, Generally a transmission cooler is mounted on the front face of the radiator so it is in an area of air flow. Yes it can be elevated above the transmission. Automatic transmissions operate between 200 and 250 degrees F., and sometimes higher. |
