Just wondering if anybody can help id a slant six that I have. There are two number castings on the side of the engine, 030-11 and 1806: below that there is AAWJ. It has 5 freeze plugs.

If you search on 030-11 you will find some information, as far as I can tell it should be somewhere between 1967-1969 possibly.

If you have the smaller pilot at the end of the crank (1.962") it's a 1967, if it has the larger pilot (2.157") it is a 68-69 (maybe)

Unless of course the crank has been replaced.

Welcome aboard 1966 wagon. This is a good project, locating, recording, and decode ing the various casting numbers found on different parts of your car. This information will become helpful if at some point you need a little guidance on a project. Additionally may I suggest that you acquire a copy of the “Factory Service Manualâ€￾ for your car. It will be the best tool that you can have on hand, and can be found on the net from various venders, so shop around.

Take a look at this MOPAR Decoding page, I think it will help.

The numbers you have provided don’t appear to be a casting numbers. The raised seven digit number followed by a dash will be found under the first three freeze plugs, and are approximately 5/8th inches tall.

Numbers stamped in the block’s deck along its right front edge, directly above the fuel pump, describe engine displacement, and baring information, and are generally buried under a layer of crud. These numbers sometimes have been removed if the block has been machined during a rebuild.

It sounds like a later "cast crank" block.
Does the block have 5 freeze plugs and does the head have spark plug tubes?

Seriously thanks for answering! I've been trying to find info on it for like two days.
Thanks to lancer61 i will have to check the crank thing.

to wjajr thanks, the engine i actually got for free off of craigslist, which is why i don't know too much about the engine itself. There are no seven digit numbers anywhere on the either side of the engine just the ones i have posted.

And to Doc thanks also, the block has 5 freeze plugs and no spark tubes.
