What should I use to get old nasty gaskets off? I am working on my cherokee oilpan gasket, and there is a lot of stuff in the way, and the gasket is pretty tough to get off. Can I use acetone to soften the gasket a bit? Paint stripper? Torch? I just don't want to WALK 2 hours to town to get gasket remover spray, if I can use something around the house... |

Goof off or lacquer thinner.Very flammable so be careful. |

Goof off works ok when there is just a little bit of stubborn gasket left. If it's the thick stuff I'd go with a torch and scraper. Even a fine wire wheel if some of it is a little stubborn. |

Thanks! Uhm...I ended up squirting some gas on them, and put them on fire... Don't try this at home! Oh, they came off pretty easy after that. Guess I am going to town to get something safer now |
