call me a bone head, BUT, i got a deal on some oil @ Costco a few weeks back. a couple days ago, i noticed the box is marked as being intended for diesel engines. can i run this in my 225? it's only 3 gallons. after that i'll read more closely. D~~~! |

I think HDEOis well suited to flat tappet engines. My Valiant owners manual recommends 20W-40 for temperatures consistently above 32°F so you should be safe with a 15W-40 in CA. A 10W-30 HDEO would also be fine. Just make sure the oil has a dual API rating like CJ-4/SM or CI-4/SL. |

Look at the label. I think my diesel oil has a SL (gasoline) on it somewhere.............. Might not be the current S(x) but it's fine for a slant. |
