I have 2 904 transmissions, both '62 vintae pushbutton units. The one intended to use is a low miles unit with a very clean case, but I discovered last week that it has a longer tailhousing, somewhere on the order of 4" - 6" longer than the other which I pulled from a 62 Lancer.

That one had nice clean blood-red fluid and what appears to be a freshly rebuilt torque converter. The outer case is very dirty, however that could be the result if sitting outside unprotected.

To use the first ine I suppose I would have to have the drive shaft (ball and trunion front joint) shortened but what unintended side effects would that have? The rear mount appears to be in the same general location though I haven't actually measured it.

I end up parting together a couple of A-833OD's to make one "good one"... Same should apply to auto transmissions of the same "generation".
