 Post subject: Cartridge or spin on?

I have a low milage 170 cu in slant in my 61 Dodge D100.

It has the cartridge in the can. I am tilting towards using the napa 1806 cartridge. The spill is no biggee to me. I thrive in oil. LOL

HOWEVER,.. I stopped and looked at a year unknown, spare 225 engine sitting in my shop. Whoa! I see a spin on filter. I spun it off and there sits this stand pipe. I unscrewed standpipe (appro 1" inch nut on the base of standpipe. The whole thing looks foreign and MickyMouse? No?

Your advise,... Just use NAPA 1806 or convert to spin on?

If spin on is superior then,...=> Will this spin on I described interchange to my 1961 170 cu in or not? And if worthwhile any tips. gl/6

The NAPA 1806 is a spin on with the tall standpipe built in.
