Post subject:  225 timing change replacement

Hello , I am in process of replacing the timing chain set on our 1966 Dart. Motor is 225cid. The original timing chain jumped a tooth and I am trying to line up gears from new set. The Set I bought did not specify. Can someone let me know what marks are to be lined up. I see a dot on cam gear and a dot on Crank gear and figure these are the two to line up. Is this correct? I don't want to make a mistake as this is first time I have changed a timing set. Does the key have any bearing on the location that marks should be in? Thank you for your help. Ed

You have to line the 2 marks up through the centre of both cogs, should have a diagram that comes with your new timing chain set or try to get hold of a workshop manual they show you what to do. :D

Lining up the marks will get it run. However, due to variations in manufacture of the gears and the crank and cam, you will get best results if you use a degree wheel and set it up according to specs.
