Post subject:  d150 oil pan

Hi,
This is my my first post. I have been lurking here and have found helpful advise about my 1983 D150 slant 6. I have done a search to see if there is an answer to my problem.
I need to replace the oil pan on this truck. I have the pan loose and hanging. I cannot get the pan past the oil pick up. Can anyone tell me if I can get the pan out by jacking up the engine? Is there a way to remove the oil pick up?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
I also need an oil pan. I have posted in the classifieds.

If you jack up the engine (safely!), you should have no trouble removing the oil pan. I'm guessing that you don't need to jack it up that high.

The oil pickup is fairly easy to remove, provided you have room to do it.

Thanks. I have the mounts loose and ready to go. I will be trying this tomorrow.
Is the oil pick up threaded in , like a bolt, or bolted in place?
I have done work like this before. I had to jack up the engine in a similar way to change the steering rack on my 88 Lincoln.

As I recall, the pipe should be threaded.
