| Post subject: | Carter bbc Ball question Hurried LOL |
On the kitchen table I am putting together a one barrell bbc. I did not take it apart within good recent memory. I have a rebuild kit but the diagram is blurry. It shows the one ball as going near the side. Very easy to see, and no problem for me. The other one illustrates it less clealy. So here is the question,.. Does the other small steel ball go under the accelerator pump.?? Or does it go under the main metering jet.?? The print out leave it unclear, and my reasoning power is lost. I need to clear this off the table before the little woman gets home.! G |

For display of parts I used the image scrolling mid page on the pdf url supplied. Thanks for that and I just may need to return to it. LOL (Some of it seems to be different then mine, such as parts 25 and 25A.) I am posting a pic which I need to ask further a question or two. The bowl cover (air horn) pictures an indent where PERHAPS? a washer of some sort goes? I also picture the upper exterior slotted washer of accelerator pump just for the heck of it. I am quite certain it is for exterior, LOL Please note that brass dealybob which I need question. 60 Years back when I did this for hobby I recall seeing that type of brass holdem dealybob and I believe it was used for covering the ball. Perhaps covering and holding in place the ball at the sump bottom where accelerator pump actuates? (Hobby again 60 years later) Bottom line 2 things still have me to research some info first. Here they are,.. 1. That brass dealybob thingy does not seem to belong to this model BBC,?? The reason I say that it does not fit. leastways I don't see a fit. #2 question,.. Does "If I have no inner airhorn washer does that the acellerator pump spring alone is sufficient.? BTW, Subject is 1961 170 cu in in pickup. Original carb most likely. G Here is a link to my picture,. Look closely at second picture for brass dealybob detail. Thank you, G http://www.picturetrail.com/gid23428603 |

Slit washer OK, Thank for feedback on all fronts. No place to fit brassy thingy on my BBC. I reckon I well do exactly what you did. I do recall back in the late fifties when on three twos 'n" stuff I used those brassys fer a clip cover. Sorta like a hold in place cage for the ball. I assume those who herein contributed agree that the earlier "unknown by myself" 2nd ball goes in the accelerator pump housing at the bottom.???? Thanks guys. GL/6 |
