Post subject:  radiator overflow container question

Just want to confirm that there's no specific over flow container I should be looking at for my /6 225 71 dart swinger. It has a new radiator from the previous owner but no over flow container - it has the nipple for one, it's just missing right now. My understanding is that I'll just have to find a universal one correct?

Thanks

Our 71 did not come with one either.

What I used on both my 65 v-8 Dart and our 71 slant swinger is the factory overflow container from a 73 up A body. It fits nicely. You have to drill 2 small holes in the radiator support for the bracket and 1 larger hole in the frame section of the body for the container bottom's pin to fit into. It is a very simple factory looking swap and the container is good sized.

If you can’t find a factory tank, Wal-Mart has a universal tank with hose in their RV section for less than 10 bucks. It is the same thing that Year one sells for about 25 bucks…

Pre 1973 over flow provisions was a hose running down the side of radiator that dumped onto the ground.

My '67 Valiant meets the NHRA radiator overflow requirement with a quart Valvoline brake fluid bottle. My '66 Dart used a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sports bottle, but with a metal tube as the plastic straw didn't withstand boiling coolant.

That wins the award for best overflow bottle.
