I was reading about needing to take spark plug washers off spark plugs before installing. why is this again and what if the plug cups are worn? wouldn't that cause oil to leak around plug? Thanks |

If you have spark plug tubes make sure to remove the washer. If you don't have spark plug tubes then use the washer. I believe there is more info about the spark plug tubes here. |

If you have spark plug tubes, remove the washer. If you don't have spark plug tubes, the plugs are a differt style with a tappered seat and do not use washers, in any application.

Oh my mistake. My head has spark plug tubes (obviously), so I wasn't too clear on the later style heads. I just remembered reading something to the effect of "if you have spark plug tubes make sure to remove the washer, if you don't then you don't need to." So just to be clear, an instruction like "if there is a washer, then remove it" would work for any head? Again, sorry for misinformation. |
