66 a100 with original type single field wire alt - at idle i recently measured 12.5 volts on bat and also at bat terminal on alt - increase the rpms and i do get up to the 13.5 close to 14v range - with a load ( headlights ) and rpms up it dips just a bit but still stays up close to 13.5 - i went ahead and replaced the alt ground to regulator wire and also the alt field to regulator wire - it basically stayed the same - is this range of idle voltage typical for a single field type circuit or do i have a charging problem - i cant recall ever making this measurement since i have had the van ( app 3 years ) so i do not have a previous to compare it to with this vehicle - oo3

The original low amp alternators will do that.

If it's a point regulator, you can tweak the adjustment to raise the voltage when it's above idle speed.
