Would anyone recommend clifford headers?

nope, there's lot's of topics covering this if you use the Search functions. You can find the Dutra Duals as an option or several other opinions like mine where unless you have really worked over your slant changing out the stock exhaust isn't a priority.

What I would suggest is some simple things like the HEI upgrade and a re curve, a Super Six two barrel swap, or looking at your rear end gears.

If that is too simple and you really have the performance bug you can look at the Erson group buy for excellent camshaft options, bigger valves, or upping the compression from a milling of the head.

Depends. Do you need headers, or would a low restriction "street" system work for you. Also depends on the year/model of the vehicle.

At the present time, if you need headers, and have a "early "A" body (60-66), then Clifford is your only choice. And only with a 225 engine, not a 170.

If you go with Clifford, call them up, and make sure they have them in stock. If yes, pay with a credit card. Allow a reasonable time for delivery (10 days). If they don't show up, call the credit card company and put the amount in dispute. Do not listen to Cliffords excuses.

There are some other header options in the works, but not available yet.

It would be going on a 73 plymouth duster with a stock 225. i plan on a 2 bbl or 4bbl soon, and change the rear gears as well.

Yes, I will highly reccomend Clifford headers. Just don't buy them through Clifford. Be patient and watch the 'for sale' sections or E-bag. They pop up frequently. :D

I just test fit the production run of Aussie Speed headers on a 73 Duster. They will work on ANY manifold including the Hurricane Long Runners. PM me if you want tinformed when they are available.

On my 71 Valiant with milled head and block, the header hits the adjusting screw on the power steering gear. Its also impossible to remove the stock start without either disassembling it in place or removing the intake manifold and headers. ymmv

This is why I shimmed my motor mounts and used a mini starter from a V8 Dakota. Here's the car undergoing a carb swap. As you can see there is plenty of room between the headers and starter.

The headers only hit the power steering stud on my 70 Valiant when the drivers side motor mount was old and squished. I did not need to remove the headers(clifford shortie) when I switched to a mini starter.

Funny you should mention stock starter can’t be removed with Clifford shorty headers… Just drove to a car show today with the Shorty & stock starter equipped Dart about 100 miles one way.

A few weeks ago I changed out the flex plate, today the damn thing was clanking away when I got to the show. Bolts attaching the torque converter had loosened up. I was able to tighten the converter bolts up at the show, by removing the starter, without disconnecting its wires, and reinstall the starter in about 15 minutes. It fits in and out nicely. Also I have a milled head.

PO had made a dimple via a few well placed whacks with a hammer at the point where the header pipe would hit the power steering adjusting bolt. Josh’s motor mount shim is a good trick to pick up a wee bit of clearance as well. I never gave that one a thought, but than my headers fit.
