Post subject:  Fuel Pump Recommendations

I was thinking of installing an electronic fuel pump and wanted some opinions, primarily on brands and suppliers. I don't want anything expensive, am not using fuel injection (in the near future anyway) and will not be increasing horsepower by much (if any).

Should I also install a regulator?

Thanks much.

Some pumps are self-regulating. Just pick one with correct pressure output.

The stock mechanical fuel pump is more reliable, unless your cam eccentric is bad.I'm running 14.6s with a stock carter one.

The reasoning is from a cold start problem I've been having. It's a real pain. I've replaced the fuel pump in the past from it leaking and I beleive it was the original, so I'm not debating it's reliability.

What I'm tired of is having to crank the engine 4 to 5 tries and pump the heck out of it to get fuel to start it.

I've rebuilt the carb and unless the needle and seat were no good out of the kit it shouldn't be leaking down. There is no external leaks either. So that said I think it may be evaporating. ???

emsvitil-what "cube" pump did you use?

Thanks

Not sure if it's the exact one (as there are several manufacturers)

At the time I got the cheapest one that was on sale

Something like this
