I am planning on putting Dutra Duals on my 79 D100 truck. I have found a 2bbl on a 65 or 66 Chrysler. It is a Bendix Stromburg. Would this be a good carb and get decent milage? Will it perform well? Thanks. Tony Keeler, Indianapolis nut661@sbcglobal.net |

for what it is worth,i had those Strombergs (?same?) on stock 60 318 and 62 318. both ran perfectly for 125k + miles never opened them, 20 -22 mpg ,no flat spots, good mpg, good cold starts etc. hassle free carb. I am building a 273 replacing a 360 4bbl in a 79 dodge truck, (10 mpg, 4 wd) going for MPG this time, specifically found a 2bbl Stromberg off a 60's era pre pollution V8 van for it. . Using inverted 4bbl to 2bbl adapter to put it on a new air gap 4 bbl manifold . sounds crazy in a way, but sick of dancing with holley's. lots of talk about them ( "use a small Holley 4bbl on 273") from guys who own them, in reality a pain in the azz to get running right...unless you don't have a life, and can spend years on it. my .02, your mileage may vary.. |
