72 duster 3.7 whenever I take her for a drive on the freeway after about 20 miles down the road it'll start to sputter when accelerating and I have to pull over to a stop and then after accelerating again it'll be fine for a lil while longer and repeat the problem every so often... We've change the fuel pump because before it would do the same but instead it would just shut off completly... Noe it'll just sputter.... Faulty fuel pump maybe? |

Fuel starvation could be from dirt in line from tank impeding flow to pump. Sock at tank pick-up could be getting slowly clogged while driving, and once the pump stops pumping when you shut her down, the build-up dissipates on to the bottom of tank, only to repeat the process over again. Could be a defective pump, put a pressure gage on it to see if it will maintain 4 to 7 psi after driving for a while. |
