Is a 741 case ok to use for a turbo drag car build? I know it has a smaller bearing so this is why I am questioning it. I will also be running a spool.

Yes,in my opinion it is a very durable setup it has a 1 3/8" pinion shaft,that`s bigger than most other brands heavy duty stuff, you may find a limited selection of gear ratios avaliable, 3.73 and 3.91 are available from randy`s ring and pinion, if you want a lower ratio you may look into a 742 or 489 case.
But if it is set up correctly,you`d be hard pressed to damage a 741.

Back in the day, they used the 741 (and Ball and Trunnion) with Max Wedges. It'll hold up.

Thanks a lot guys for the info now i need to find some 2.73 gears for it. I have 3.55s and they are to low for me.

There are 2.76s available. I wish I had known you had 3.55s. I would have traded for my 2.76s, but I sold them a week ago.

741 3.91 gears from a junk yard rear made about 100 passes in my dad's 13 flat 340,4 speed '67 cuda-and we changed it to a 4.10 742 case.Then we put the 741 in a 300HP 360 "farm truck" that we've towed a 12,000 GVW. gooseneck for about 50,000 miles.

I ran a 3.91 SG 741 in my '66 forever. It went 12.0's and never hurt anything. :D
