most likely a 727,I have a 77 longbed that was factory equipped 225/727
an excellent truck trans very heavy duty and dependable.

cool. it is a parts truck I got for the drivetrain and front sheetmetal. This will be going in my '77 Ramcharger. It also has the optional 16" wheels, so that is a bonus too.

Maybe, maybe not. Is your transmission pan bumped out under the dipstick tube?

I'f your truck still has the OEM trans in it,it will be a 727,trucks didn't start having 904s untill 1982.But, many trucks have also been "Mr.potatoe headed"over the years by owners that bought the cheapest thing to keep it running.So look at Josh's post for an accurate identification.
