Post subject:  Aussie heat stove/riser gasket- did I wreck it?

Hi everyone,

When we were doing the intake and exhaust manifolds on my brothers car we assembled them together with the heat stove gasket between them, then got the faces resurfaced, then took them apart and painted the intake.

We thought it was probably a bad idea, and it seems that we were right as we have an exhaust leak now. Also I think we overtorqued the bolts, as we cinched them down really tight.

I have another aussie gasket, I bought two sets originally.

Should I just install a new one?

My mechanic friend thinks that maybe we should sandwich two aussies with a stamped steel. I don't think he realizes what we did before installation (tourqing, removing, retourqing).

Thanks!
