 Post subject: eddy carb screams !!!

hey guys i finally got off my butt last night/early this am, and installed a 1/4" thick steel plate on top of the heatriser on the stock exhaust manifold, modified the 1" billet aluminuim carb spacer and put the eddy 600 back on,

question is at idle there is this insanely high squeal, like wicked belt squeal coming from the front PCV port on the carb, un hook the PCV line and sound goes away, also when the PCV is hooked up she base idles at 1300rpms !!!! pull the line drop to 900rpms, so what is causing this ?? I just put my finger over the PCV port on the carb and sure enough jumps right back up in rpm's and starts squealing, i sprayed breakclean at the base of the carb and spacer not change, so i am pretty sure i am good on vacuum leaks, as always thanks for the help guys,

Do not use chlorinated hydrocarbons such as “Brake Cleanerâ€￾ where it can be combusted, on or around anything hot such as an exhaust manifolds. The vapors from evaporation are toxic, and combustion of it is deadly if inhaled.

Just a small bit of vaporized Brake cleaner will make you sick, combusted "Brake Cleaner" fumes will damage your body permanently, and could kill you if you inhale just a few small whiffs of the stuff, as it is a cousin to chlorine gas.

Carburetor cleaner, WD-40, soapy water, and propane will work safely to locate vacuum leaks.

thats what i'm thinking got her torn down now, regasketed with thicker squarebore gaskets, used some red high temp silicone (super thin coat on both sides of the gasket to help seal) checked out the base plate on the eddy carb with my good 'ol straightedge and wouldn't you know it has almost 1/16th worth of gap across the deck, crap i can't win with freaking carbs ??!!!! oh well i need better gas milage, i literally was watching the needle drop when i was testing with the edddy carb,

Try Doctor Dodge's trick of making a belt sander belt into a sanding block. You can either staple a cut belt onto a piece of 1-by, or slip a belt over the right length of 1-by. You can sand the carb flat, with some patience and 120-grit.

yea i was going to strip the carb down, got a chuck of 1"x8"x30" in the garage, was going to use a couple of sheets of 240grit stapled to the board, but for now i shall live with better reliability, and gas milage with the 2bbl lol,
