Is there some kind of trick to getting rid of squeaky brakes? I have drums all the way around and after I blow all the dust out, readjust them and pack the front brakes with grease, the squeaking will go away or be very minimal for a week or two. Then after that it comes back with a vengence. It's a very high pitched piercing kind of sound that almost sounds like metal on metal but not quite that bad. All my drums are smooth, brake pads are all relatively new as well. I blow them off to the point where I don't get any more dust coming out from any angles. I've also tried lightly scuffing the shoes with some sandpaper, thinking maybe they got glazed over and thats caused the squeaking. Everything seems to be temporary and doesn't last more than a week or two. Anyone have any tricks? |

I'd probably try a different pad compound first. Some are noisier than others. |

Any Chance of heat stress to the drums? Ive had these new Chinese drums over heat and "heat Glaze". Frank |

What do you use to lube the shoes? You know, were they rub on the backing plate. If you "skip" that step it will case noise....I use anti-seize because it has a very high melting point and have no problems with brake noise in my 64 Valiant. |

Sounds like the friction material. Are they economy shoes? |
