Plugs, cap and rotor, set the timing, adjust the valves, then see how she runs.

Hi, I've read through the stickys and have done most of the stuff. I have a 225, with 350 holley, long runner intake (cheers aussie speed), extractors. heads been ported and polished, have the head shaved to 9.5:1 comp. Full new elec ignition setup with new MSD blaster coil. My question is (and remember I'm pretty new to this stuff) I want to tune this engine a little, what are my options I'll have about $200 budget. And lets assume I don't have too many tools but I'm mechanically minded and a good learner. Next step will be to get newer cam, and put in 1.70 and 1.44 valves etc. Any help would be great, thanks. |

Cheers, Haven't had time to let her rip yet, body is in pieces at the moment and I'm prepping for paint work. The ignition setup is about 4 weeks old, so guess I'll just get the new plugs. everything else is new. Sounds good  .

You really need to get the vehicle running & "on the road" so you can see / "feel" if there are any problems or where any improvements can be made. You could already have a nice running combo... you just need to put some miles on it to "shake-it-out" some, before taking the next step. DD |

Thanks alot! Sadly looks like it'll be around 6 months before the car is on the road :/ Doing all the paint work now + it's nearly $1000 just to register the car for a year etc.... :/:/. As I said I'm still pretty new to this, does having a timing gun help with a dizzy re curve? |

A timing gun is just a plain good tool for car work. Use the search function and look at the FAQ's at the top of each section. There are several great articles on recurveing. Ouch $1000 to register a car for a year. Thats got to hurt. Frank |
