Post subject:  Slant Six Interchanging???

A co-worker just lost a rod bearing in his 63 Valiant, and is wondering what year(s) of the slant six will fit without mods. I believe they are all the same through the years, but not sure. Will the truck and vans slant sixes also work? I guess I was thinking they are all the same. Does someone know what years fit? He wants to use his existing push button transmission set-up.Thanks :?:

Direct bolt in would be 60-67. Engines from 68 up can be used with an adapter ring (about $30) for the end of the crank, and using a 68 up flexplate. Any year engine would need the motor mount brackets, oil pan, oil pickup tube, for the year/model vehicle the engine will be installed. The distributer might also have to be swapped, depending on whether points or electronic ignition is used. Would also have to use the 65 down carb to retain the stock linkage. These parts can be swapped from the engine being removed. On some later engines, certain emissions items might have to be removed.
