We went down to Cedar Falls, IA to wrap up the 2010 racing season today. After returning from Samoa I made some changes to my car based on some of the things Guzzi was doing. I replaced my 29.5 X 11.5 Phoenix slicks with some smaller 10 X 29 Goodyears, the smaller circumference gives about 4% more RPM at the end of the track. I moved the inlet for the air box around my carburetors to the inner headlight on the drivers side of the car (by way of a corregated tube) instead of through the cowl vents. I also lowered the rear of the car about 1 1/2" with lowering blocks. Finally I made the nice 62 Valiant grille that Mark gave me fit, and I have a grille again for the first time since I crashed my car in 1999.

The air today wasn't nearly as good as we had at Samoa, 2,000' versus 500' density altitude but the starting line was much better prepared at Cedar Falls, about as good as I have ever raced on. There was a cross wind at Cedar Falls and somewhat of a head wind at Samoa. Anyway everthing worked really well and I got my best ever times of 11.363 at 114.47 MPH, the eighth mile was 7.103 and my best 60' was 1.472. I only made three runs because I could not imagine that there was anything left in it today. Very encouraging numbers to mull over this winter and try to improve on next year.
