Take a listen before you decide..

Timing accuracy is not necessarily as good as a quality chain. Looks like Pentastar in Australia discontinued them.

Won't the gear teeth form and mesh depth influence the gear noise?

Hint: transmissions usually doesn't whine, rear end don't howl if badly worn or mis-meshed.

Cheers, Wizard

As a general rule, straight cut gears are much noisier than angle cut gears.

I had a B&M straight gear drive in a Chevy pickup. At 60 on the tollway it closely resembled the whine from a jet engine.

Big block MoPar, big block Chevy and the slant have the same camshaft to crankshaft centerline. The crank snout is also the same diameter as the big block MoPar. Hope this helps.
