Hey guys I was just curious, I wanna give my `63 Valiant a nice little squatty stance with some cragar or cragar ss style look alike rims. But I was wondering what size and bolt patter would be the best to go with along with tire size that would work the best for the rim and car, seeing that it is all stock.

Thanks,
Joe

Bolt pattern is 5 on 4" (SBP) 14" with P205s is a good look.

There are not a lot of choices for wheels in SBP. Ralleys and mags, some cragers. Most can be had off web site like this one in the parts for sale sections. New from Summit and others.
Tires anywhere you choose to buy tires.

Summit Racing makes it super easy to search for wheels, 5x4" bolt pattern, 14" diameter.

If it were my car I'd use at least 15x7" wheels with 225/50R15 tires. I'm a fan of the Ansen Sprint wheels. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARE-A695769/

My Valiant runs 17" wheels.

Listen to Josh, he knows his business. He is a former rally racer and one of the resident experts on Valiant suspensions. He gives excellent advice.

However, before you go spend $1k on tires and wheels, you should determine if you are going to keep the 5 on 4 inch bolt pattern or switch to the much more common 5 on 4.5 inch. This decision is usually made as a result of a front brake upgrade. Most front brake upgrades require switching to the 5 on 4.5 inch bolt pattern, but not all do. Again, I recommend you do some homework and decide what you want to do before making any purchases.

Reed,

You crack me up and flatter me. Yes, I used to do some amateur road racing in a '66 Dart and I still attempt to teach people the fast way to get around Portland International Raceway while instructing for Cascade Sports Car Club. The last wheel-to-wheel racing was the '09 Halloween Chump Car race at Portland.

Truth of the mater is there are no very high performance street tires in 14" in appropriate sizes for our cars. There are good 14" tires, but none are very high performance street tires. Please, please don't bring up Radial T/As or anything with raised white letters. They just don't rate with modern tires. If you want to know what's hot in street tires you're well advised to hang out in SCCA forums and read magazines like Grassroots Motorsports. You can get a Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec in 195/60R14, but that's a size for my Neon, not a self-respecting A-body. 15" sizes are also very limited. An early A-body on 225/50R15 works well, but choices are slim. If you want a very high performance street tire over 225mm section width you pretty much have to go right to 17".
