So I wanted to play with reducing some valve train noise and bought new old stock rocker arms. I found that they wont or barely fit onto the rocker shaft. I guess the right way will be to take them to a machine shop and have them sized to the rocker shaft. But, had to ask this silly question. Could it be as simple as using a brake cylinder hone to get them to fit? Or would this backyard mechanic attempt wipe out the rocker shaft due to a poor finish inside the rockers? My next trick is installing the offenhauser dual single carbs on it. I like the abuse i guess. Thanks, Glen |

Measure your shaft to be sure it is round. I have seen a number of rocker shafts "smashed" oval, at the bolt holes... from being over-tightened. DD |

Wow, what a great tip. You are correct as the rocker gets "tight" at the holes for the bolts. I have tried Napa and Autozone, but neither can get a new rocker shaft. Do you know who sells them ? Thank you for sharing your experience and skill. Wow. |
