I searched on this site, so if it's already been covered I've missed it somehow. Anyway, I'm replacing a head gasket on my Shaggin' Wagon this weekend and need to know if sealer is required on any/all head bolts. |

The head bolt holes are blind and do not go into the water jacket so no sealer is required. You should chase the bolt holes in the block and lightly oil the bolts for accurate torque readings. |

Thanks! Got to wait till the thunderstorms are gone, but can't wait to tackle this job. Lifting the head with the manifolds on is my only option, and should be lots of fun! |

If you have a cherry picker /engine hoist use it. It make the head and manifolds a snap. Frank |
