| Post subject: | carburetor check balls question |
I have a carter bbd carb and it has 3 check balls. I looked at the pdf for this carb and it shows only 2 balls(get your mind out of the gutter). The larger ball goes under the accellerator pump and the smaller ball under the squirters. Mine has another check ball under the vaccum piston spring but the pdf doesn't show this ball. DO I HAVE 1 TO MANY BALLS IN MY CARB??? OK guys and GIRLS help me out with my ball questions. |

Could it be just a mistake from a previous overhaul, by a previous owner? If the ball under the vacuum piston blocks a channel, the vacuum piston doesn't have a function anymore. The carb should work, but deliver lousy milage! Olaf. |

I removed the extra ball and truck seems to run better. I'm learning more about these carbs as I have had it apart a cpl of times now. I need to do the HEI upgrade so I can alleviate other potential problems. |
