Hi all Im looking for air filter housing for my 1966 Dart Convertible and was wondering are they all the same? i mean say 1963 vs 1972? I found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1976-77- ... _500wt_956 Will it fit my 170ci engine? Cheers Syed |

It should fit, and would allow a cold air hose the stock air cleaner wouldn't allow, but it looks nothing like the stock one. |

Not necessarily. The center hole on the air cleaner did change over the years for the 1920 and 1945 carbs. Different years had the snorkel pointing different directions and this was controlled by the shape of the flange on the air cleaner housing. Further, some air cleaners had special dimples stamped in them to clear choke linkages and if the air cleaner is not oriented correctly on the carb or is used on the wrong carb there will be clearance problems.Many air cleaners do interchange, but I would recommend test fitting a new one on your car before you buy. Cold air and heated air intake provisions are great upgrades, so long as the air cleaner will fit your carb and clear your accessories. |
