I bought an 83 d150 a little while ago and I use it for my landscaping business. I need more bottom end power due to towing a trailer and waste alll day long.I want to convert my 1983 d150 with A833 O/D with 3:55 to 4:10 gearing. I would also like to increase the suspension from 1/2 to 3/4-1ton. my question is has anyone done this before that could give me a few pointers. It would be much appreciated.

Not enough power, not enough suspension. Sounds like you need to go buy a D250 before you learn the hard way you don't have enough brakes. :?

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/c ... 90740.html Price seems slightly high. I've seen them cheaper this side of the border for sure. For example... http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/ctd/2033882760.html and one with Magnum V8 power. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/2035136741.html

Up grading to a D 250 would be much more cost effective than rebuilding the light duty truck you have now. There is a lot more to do, to safely increase GVW, than an axel, and spring change.

Yeah, you are right. way too much work to convert it safely. Not sure what I should do. Buy a d250-350 or fix up the w200 that I have. But it is a pig on gas and I need help to finish wiring it (color blind).
