back ups work fine,signals work but get faster as they are left on, turn on lights and running lights are way bright, hit the brakes and they dim way down,just opposite of what we want!( I did reverse the wires but same difference) Help? robert |

Lights dimming when you hit the brakes sounds like bad ground at light socket. |

It certainly sounds like a bad ground - the current for the running lights is going through both filaments because of the bad ground, so while each is dimmer than it ought to be, there's 2 of them. The bad ground could be between the housing and the body or between the sockets and the housing or both - I've seen them all. I've also seen the problems come and go. A decent multimeter will help you track down the problem - start with the housing to a *good* ground (usually the trunk latch is a good spot), then the sockets. Sometimes cleaning the screws is enough; sometimes not. |

I am electrically retarded. Fault in fuse block itself with a ground (short) in the bundle of wires running into the fuse block also. thanks robert |
