Quite literally it's how the manufacturer cuts the blades on a given compressor wheel. They can make one casting or forging and then trim it differently for differing flow characteristics. |

No, it's not exactly like a propeller as it's radial flow. The only difference I'm aware of, within a given compressor family, is the height of the blade. |
