| Post subject: | Engine dipstick tube length |
I searched earlier posts re the length of the engine dipstick tube on a 66 valiant with no joy. Can someone please tell me how long it is above where it enters the block? I have two motors sitting here and both have broken off tubes. |

I checked 3 of mine, and found 3 1/2, 3 3/4, and 4 inch. If you have a stock oil pan, I would suggest installing 5 qts oil with a new filter, run the engine for a minute, install the stick and measure the distance from the block to the "stop" on the stick, when the stick reads full. |

I had 2 7/8 and 2 @ 3" The 2 7/8 has been rebuilt so I figured it was supposed to be 3". Good suggestion Charrlie. Frank |

Thanks men, it seems that there are a few possibilities so I'll go with the fill and check. Seems like the safest option |
