Has anyone seen a slant six set up with dual v belts? Or does someone out there have a serpentine setup for one?

I'm planning on running a very high output alternator eventually, and a single belt just isn't going to cut it, in terms of load and belt life and slipping, etc.

A member named Super6 built a serpentine setup years ago......it was a lot of work. Drawings still exist somewhere on this site.

How big an alternator? I am running a 110 amp with a stock belt setup.

If you do need dual belts, and don't have power steering and/or air conditioning, you could probably mix, and match some pulleys. Might have to do some spacers to line everything up.

I do have power steering.

I know that running the slightly larger pully diameter on the alternator helps a lot, as it concerns belt loading and grip. I like the small one, so that the alternator charges well at idle, but if you're going to use a big alternator... more leverage helps.

Which alternator are you using? I was just going to take my 65A or whatever it is, and put in the high power parts to make it closer to a 100A device. I'm planning on putting on a winch, and so will need some serious alternator power at times.

I am running the Nippondenso, from a late 80's pickup truck. It's either a 88 or 89. Have to look at the alternator. Too early has the "BIG" chrysler alt. then the Nippondsenso with "V" belt, then too new has the Nippondenso with serp belt. If you are going to run this on The 65 slant six engine, all you have to do is remove a 1/4 inch from the front of the stock cast alt mount, and use the stock chrysler electronic voltage regulator. You would be wise to up grade the B+ wireing for the added current, with any larger alt. Send me a PM and I will give you my phone number, if you want to talk about this conversion. It is simple.
