I would like to go from my electric thermostat choke to a manual pull-style. Any suggestioons on what to use or reccomendations on how to do it?

If I remember right on my 79 W 250 w/318 I just used a universal choke kit bought at the local parts store. I'd go out and look for you but I'm at work until January.

I've done auto-to-manual choke conversions a number of times; it always takes some fabrication. I suggest you heavily grease the cable, as they always seem to bind up on me w/o it after a few months w/o it.

I used a kit I picked up at AutoZone for $12. There was a little fabrication involved, but my stash of leftover hardware bits supplied everything I needed. I mount the L-bracket to the carb stud and mounted the choke pull handle to the parking brake bracket to avoid drilling holes in my dash. It was pretty easy once I figured it out. I'll echo lubing the cable. Mine is a little sticky. I'm thinking of blowing graphite powder through it (like a speedo cable).

I admit I love the manual choke. It was 23 degrees this morning. I jumped in the car, pumped the car once with the choke pulled closed and hit the key. It fired right up no problem. Heckuva lot better than the automatic choke ever did.
