Hi all, I am in a couple of other power wagon sites. i have a 64W200 318 flat bed. and the damn thing wouldn't start this morning. now i will have to take the day off work. the reason i joined this group is i am the new proud owner of a 63 PW Ambulance with a slant six. it has been sitting for at least 5 yrs Not run at all... the tags are from 95...(sick husband who passed last year). i lucked into this rig last week. It is in good shape but motor is stuck. i plan to poor diesel fuel in the cylinders. done this in MN as a kid and was able to get old tractors and cars running pretty good. is there a new and improved method? as if i needed a nother project..geeez. i had thought i would use ambulance for parts for my 64 but after seeing the diamond in the ruff i just couldn't do it to the old girl. i am relay having a time finding info on any ambulance of that year any one else ever seen one? thanks LB |

Coca-Cola will actually eat rust. I have seen this work and was taught this in my high school auto shop class as a way to free up a stuck motor. You might want to try using a breaker bar and a socket on the bolt in the end of the crank snout to give the engine a good heave and see if it won't break loose. Did you try moving the engine back and forth? If it does move a little bit back and forth it might be the valve stems are stuck-a easy repair with a large rubber mallet. |

thanks for the coke idea. I just tried to turn it over with fan and pulley. no real attempts were made , i did not want to break rings. or whatever> i will try to get -r- home this weekend. No brakes ! Peddle is to the floor. i will try to connect the factory tow bar to it and pull it with my 64W200. my 318-1 is very powerless. i went and looked at a 318-3 for that truck yesterday. hopefully it is in a lot better shape the -3 motor is a heavy duty motor. it came out of a 78 van. i have also located a 440 w/ 727 trans combo. for the sweptline. but that will have to wait tell $ arrives or i win the loto. I was talking with lady im getting ambulance from she has NO history of its past, other than it came from Eastern WA. Must have came from some sort of Military base. it has all the proper plates riveted on the dash. as far as the 64 W200 . I am looking for doors , fenders, hood and a box. the truck came from PA. was used for construction (destruction) and is in real tough shape. it would probably suit better as a parts truck. thanks for the replies. thanks Reed, i sent Zorg a PM. looking forward to get the beast home this weekend. 1st thing to do is scrub it down and and get the green slime off so i can identify holes -n- stop the bleeding. maybe put a bandage or two on it! I will try the Coke to loosen rust in the motor ,and everywhere else. maybe drink some of it myself. i gave up the beer so i had some $ to buy old broken down abandoned stuff...needless to say the little women is impressed...lol... thanks again, Larry B oh i will get some pics and get them posted.. |

Blaster PB works excellent; teaspoon in each cylinder, wait a day and turn by hand. Once unstuck add oil to each cylinder and hand turn a few times around. It will start hard and burn abit . Don't forget the oil . The blaster PB will wash all oil off cylinder walls.
