I went from a 13" wheel to a 14" wheel on a 66 Valiant with a 904 tranny. I need info on where to purchase a new gear for the tranny that goes to the speedo. Thanks for the help!

Check the net. One can find a range of gear prices. You will neeed to know tire size & rear gear ratio. Year One has an easy spedo gear selection chart.

If you have

185 75 R 14
195 70 R 14
205 70 R 14

tires,

You don't have to change a thing...

The 185 75 14 and 195 70 14 tires are the same diameter as the stock 6.50 13 tires were, and the 205 70 14 tire is slightly larger, but tends to correct for the usual problem of the speedometer reading slightly high.

If you've changed to a 14" rim because you've also changed axles (for the 4.5" bolt circle), you will probably need to change the speedometer pinion because the axle ratio will likely be different. If you had a 2.93:1 axle you will have a 17-tooth speedo pinion. A newer 2.76:1 axle will then require a 16-tooth pinion for the sizes suggested by emsvitil, which is the smallest pinion available for that transmission.

Tire Upgrades

Having had to look for a 16-tooth pinion myself, I found Brewers Performance to have much better prices than Torqueflite Patty.
