Hey guys. I need to remove the back seat in my 65 belvedere to make room to weld in some floor pans. Anyone know how to? I looked for bolts but couldnt find any... does it just pop out? Its alot different than removing the back seat on my 3000gt, which took all of 5 mins lol. |

My '63 requires a down and backward movement on the lower part of the seat to remove. The seat is held in place with a kind of "J" hook. Richard |

There are 2 'hooks' Slide a ruler under the front to find where they are. You then need to push the lower part of the seat backward at those locations about 1", then lift up. I use a blocks of 2x4s wrapped with towels on the front of the rear seat and the back of the front seat with a hydraulic jack to do the pushing... |

These guys are right, usually I just crawl into the back, crouch down & straddle the trans hump. Face the seat and jerk my knees in to push the bottom of the seat in & pull up. If it has not been removed in a long time it might be stuck to the floor , the "jack" idea is a great idea. |

Second from last photo: shows the two hold-down brackets that catch the wire frame of the rear seat. A down and rearward motion will free the seat bottom. Rust & crud will make the job harder if the seat hasn’t been removed in the last forty years or so. LOL |

thanks for all of the responses I figured this would be kind of a pain in the ass, and I guess i was right. Ill give it a try tommorow. I really dont care if the fabric gets ruined because I have 2 new seat covers waiting to go on. After the bottom is out how will i get the seatback out? I cant seem to find any bolts that hold it in? |

They are hidden by the seat (bottom) once you get this part out you will see them. Richard |

One other thing to note. The rod (that catches the hooks) is welded to the seat frame. If the seat is giving you issues, it might be wise to check that the rod is not mangled or otherwise stuck in place. I've had those welded joints break free and prevent the rod from slipping off the hook. |
