Will ANY choke stove lnterchange or do I have to get the exact one? It has a open side facing the firewall. Also, you mentioned an electric choke. Which carb or addition do I have to get to make it work. First post to this forum/blog. Yes im a newbie! Mopar guy for 35yrs...

Welcome to the forum!

As to your choke stove question... I believe if it fits, then it works.

The electric choke mentioned by SlantSixDan? I actually just installed one, love it. They are pretty simple, all parts included, and come with fairly detailed instructions. The hardest part is splicing into +12v. I ended up soldering terminal connector to the end and using a Y adaptor from RadioShack to piggy back off the +12v going to the ballast resistor.

One or two barrel carb? Which choke you get depends on what carb you have.

From Dan's thread about the electric choke kits
Quote:
For all slant-6 applications with 1bbl carb from 1960 through 1972, the kit number is 1231.

1973 and later 1bbl carbs take a #1234.

"Super Six" 2bbl setups take a #1232

Its a 1 barrell carter I think. Should I just forget it and get a manual choke? I want a reliable truck that starts on the first try and I think having a electric choke might simplify things.

That is entirely up to you. Personally, I like electric chokes. I have never had a problem with one.

JC,

Once an electric choke is adjusted properly, it will perform flawlessly. The initial set-up is fairly simple, in fact, someone on the site just installed one of Dan’s choke kits a few weeks ago. We talked him through the project, and it is working nicely.
