Post subject:	Non Slant Oil Leak?
Here's the problem: I have a persistent oil leak on my truck -318 with an NP435... anyway I thought it was the rear main seal.. Replaced that... Still leaked ...okay maybe I put one the the halves backward..... Nope .. I put in in correct.. put it all bak together and the leak still is there. Could it be the Oil Press. sending unit on the back of the block? The truck has a gauge and it has one of the big can shaped senders for the gauge.. If it's not that then the cam plug or one of the oil gallery plugs is leaking in the back of the block I really hope its not that. Any insight is appreciated. Greg

Valve cover leaking down the back of the engine? Intake manifold end rail seal leaking? You did check to make sure the PCV system is working, didn't you?

Charrlie, valve cover gaskets are good... I will check the PCV and components.. Did not think of that. Greg

Greg, Does your truck have a gauge and a light ? I don't remember your year but some do and have found that the "splitter" fitting is the culprit. Also like Charrlie said about the Intake. Best bet is to clean,clean,clean that area and look for a trail from above.

Don't forget to check the O-ring on the distributor housing where it fits into the block. The last small block gasket set I bought had the wrong O-ring and it wouldn't seal.

There is additive that you put in your oil that shows up under a blacklight, you just drive around for a little, park it in a shop and shine a blacklight all over it and it will show where the leak is coming from.

Got this one taken care of! it was the Oil Pressure sending unit... Leaking from under the fibre / Mica Washer No more oil on the ground oil burning on the exhaust! YAY!

Your entire car would show up! That is GREEN! I had a bad pressure sender too in my Breeze. Same thing, I layed under it and watched a cleaned sender well up with oil and finally drip..on me...
